Young people from all eight northeastern states of India come to study at the following secular institutions in Silchar:
- Assam University
- Silchar Medical College
- National Institute of Technology
- Silchar Polytechnic
- Liberal Arts/Science/Commerce Colleges such as G.C. College, Cachar College, Women’s College, Romanuz College, etc.
In the 1970’s, a desire to establish a student center near the colleges in order to further the work of contacting, evangelizing, and discipling students. This dream became a reality in 1996 when Bible studies with university students began in the home of Dr. Ishak Ahmed.
In 2003, property was purchased for use as a Campus Bible Fellowship (CBF) ministry center, and in 2008 the new meeting hall was inaugurated.
